When a customer messages you, a 24-hour customer service window opens. Free-form replies inside it are not billed.
Order updates and similar utility templates sent inside an open service window are free; outside it they are billed.
Marketing templates are charged on every delivery, inside or outside a window. Support teams rarely send them.
One-time-passcode templates are billed outside a service window and free inside it.
A conversation started from a Click-to-WhatsApp ad or a Facebook Page call-to-action opens a 72-hour window in which all messages are free.
Customers messaging you costs nothing. Replying within 24 hours costs nothing.
If you need to reach a customer more than 24 hours after their last message, you send an approved utility template, billed per message at your country's rate.
