Connect an Instagram professional account so its direct messages land in the inbox and replies go back as the account.
What it does
Instagram DMs come through Meta's messaging API on the Facebook Page linked to the account. Sellio needs the Page, the Instagram account and a Page token; once connected, DMs are conversations like any other.
Before you start
- An Instagram professional account (Business or Creator) linked to a Facebook Page.
- A Meta developer app with the Instagram product and messaging permissions.
- From the app: the Page ID, the Instagram user ID and a Page access token with instagram_manage_messages.
Connect it
- 1In Sellio, open Settings, then Integrations, and choose Instagram.
- 2Enter a channel name, the Page ID, the Instagram user ID and the Page access token.
- 3Copy the webhook URL and verify token Sellio shows.
- 4In Meta for Developers, open the app's Webhooks page, choose Instagram, paste the URL and token, and subscribe to messages.
- 5Send a DM to the account from another Instagram account. It appears in the inbox; reply from there.
ℹ
Until the Meta app passes App Review for instagram_manage_messages, only accounts with a role on the app can message it. Test with a teammate's account first.
Once connected
- Each Instagram user is one conversation, reopened when they write again.
- Replies go out as the Instagram account. Meta allows replies within 24 hours of the customer's last message; after that the send fails.
- Reactions the customer adds to a message arrive as events on the conversation.
- The AI agent and customer-message automations do not run on Instagram; they work on website chat only.
Connected channels count against the plan’s channel limit (one on Free, three on Mini, five on Essentials, twenty-five on Plus); see Plans and billing. Disconnecting a channel keeps its past conversations in the inbox.
What teams use this channel for, and how it compares, is on the Instagram page.
